Tracsis completes installation of a remote control system at critical Ferromex location. This marks the second fully operational yard automation solution in the State of Coahuila and the continued expansion of Tracsis’ presence in the Mexican rail market.
The Tracsis system will improve operational reliability and control center visibility of Division junctions at this location. With the automation of switch machines Ferromex can avoid slowing down or stopping trains entering the location to reduce delays at the yard limits, as well as to increase the safety of the train crews.
This new switch control system empowers dispatchers to route trains and automatically throw switch machines through a software interface, which will help eliminate:
The need to stop a train when switches are not aligned to the right position prior to arriving at the location, and
The amount of time train crews or other rail workers need to spend around dangerous track space
The control and monitoring of wayside equipment at this location is being provided by a redundant Tracsis DOC® Yard Control System over a combination of fiber, microwave and serial radio networks. Tracsis DOC is a software platform that seamlessly integrates control solutions for rail yards. Designed to be completely extensible and expandable, DOC’s modular architecture allows railroads to add, remove or enhance modules with no negative impact on performance or stability.
